Our Mission

Neurolingo Space’s mission is to advance innovative research connecting science, space, and bilingualism while delivering immersive educational programs that expand access to scientific discovery, deepen understanding of human cognition, and inspire the next generation of global scientists.

Bringing scientific excellence and social impact together

Led by a team of neurocognitive researchers and social impact leaders, we conduct pioneering research—including studies with astronauts—while delivering immersive educational programs that connect bilingualism and science for students across Latin America.

Dr. Pilar Archila

Dr. Archila is a Senior Scientist for the International Space Station Program, where she oversees space-based investigations and analyzes bibliometric data to evaluate research impact. Previously, she studied neurocognitive processes in bilingual children using behavioral and neuroimaging methods.

Her role in the foundation is to direct the research and outreach strategy to advance the mission and expand the foundation’s Latin American reach.

Dr. Vicki Wagner

Dr. Wagner is an Associate Professor of Psychology at the University of St. Thomas where she serves as Chair of the Institutional Review Board. She is passionate about mentoring the next generation of scholars.

Her role in the foundation is to ensure that all ethical standards related to data collection, including privacy and confidentiality, are upheld at the highest level.

Dr. Arturo Hernandez

Dr. Hernandez is a Professor in the Department of Psychology whose research focuses on the neural underpinnings of bilingual language processing. His work has been funded by the National Institutes of Health and the National Science Foundation, and he currently serves as Editor-in-Chief of the Journal of Neurolinguistics. He is also the author of the book Mastery.

His role in the foundation includes research consultancy and strategic guidance for future research projects.

Evelyn Rodarte

Evelyn is currently completing her Ph.D candidacy at the University of Houston. Her research examines how social, experiential, and cognitive factors shape bilingual language processing across diverse bilingual communities.

Her role in the foundation focuses on the task of recruiting control participants for the study, ‘The Language Journeys of Astronauts".
